The Little Lizard's Sadness Retelling

In my reading group the Jedi Knights, we had to read the book The Little Lizard's Sadness and retell it.

There was a very rich man who had made a new game. He loved to play his new game on other rich men because he always won the game. The new game depended on the each player telling the truth. The game work like this if one man would start by saying “I have 50 Buffalo” and the other and if the other player said “I have 50 Buffalo too” there was no winner. But if one player said that his bed was made out of just cherry wood and if other player said his bed was made out of cherry wood decorated with shells he would be the winner.

One day a stranger arrived at the rich man’s gate. The stranger asked if he could come in and play the game. The stranger wore broken sandals and patched up clothes his face was thin and looked like he didn't have enough food to eat.
“Why have you come here?” asked the rich man.
“I have come here to play the your game you have invented” replied the stranger. The rich man gave him scented tea in one of his fine china cup’s. The rich man asked the stranger “Where do you live? What do you?”
“What would the answer mean to you” laughed the stranger.
“Let’s just play your game but you have to agree on two conditions that will make the game more fun” said the stranger.
“The first condition is that if I  win everything you own is my. If you win you take all I own and as well if I lose I will stay in this house as your servant for ever.” The rich man thought again.

“What do you own?” he asked
“You will be amazed by what I own,” smiled the stranger.
“I agree tell me your other condition.”
“I will ask the first question,” answered the stranger. The rich man wondered if the stranger was trying to be cunning.
“I agree,” said the rich man. The stranger undid a knot on one thing he carried.

“Do you have a coconut shell cup like this?” asked the stranger giving it to the the rich man. The rich man turned it over and over in his hands, It was an old and chipped coconut shell cup and not like the ones he drank from. The rich man and all his servant’s searched the whole house for a old chipped coconut shell cup. He checked all his servant’s rooms and he found cups but they were not old and chipped.

“I told you would be amazed by what I own.” said the stranger.
“The cup and my clothes are my only possession. Now everything you own is now mine.” The stranger called all the poor to the house and gave all the rich man’s china, animals and the fields. The stranger took his cup and went away and was never saw again. They say the rich man that lost all his riches turned into a lizard. The children love to watch the little lizard climb up the walls and crying all the time.
“Tsst, tsst!”

“Tsst ... tsst ... what a pity,” Is what the little lizard says.

Tank Warfare

My name is Cameron. In this story I shall tell you about the life of a tank drivers assistant. When I was nine I was asked by my Dad to help in world war two with weapons and cleaning for the soldiers in the war. I spent two years in the miserable life of a cleaner for war. It was another boring day when me and my best cabin partner Ezra found out that a tank assistant boy had stolen his masters tank and drove into the outback.

Ezra and I stayed up all night. In the cabin rooms when we were sure all the soldiers were asleep. We told the cabin boys to steal their masters tanks. But some didn't want to do it. But then Ezra and I told them they could be heroes. So they stole their masters tanks and we all drove off into the outback and the wild creatures of the night crept out of sight at the sight of the Tanks. Then we all made a plane to attack the Germans in two days first we would prepare for war.

I fixed the guns on the tanks because I was by far the best at it me and the other boys armored the tanks up with the best tank armor in all of the United States.
“There all fixed Ezra” I say. All the cabin boys start to paint their masters tanks camouflage for the battle in the jungle. At last the tanks were ready for battle we all clambered into our tanks to the cabin boys 2 to a tank. Ezra and I were sharing a tank with each other we had the strongest tank out of the small army of tanks. Ezra was driving the tank and I was firing the cannon.

First we all drove to the jungle where the Germans would be crossing. We all waited in about two hours we spotted the first sight of tanks I turned the tank around facing the incoming German tanks then I Fired it hit the King tiger tank. The missile I launched dug a big dent in the side of the King Tigers tracks. The King Tiger tried to move but it couldn't move.
“YEAH That's what I’m talking about thanks to the anti tank missile that came out of the gun on the top!” I yell. The crew of the King tiger start to climb out of the tank.
“Oh no they're getting away” Ezra says.
“Oh no they're not” I reply , I climb out of the hatch and to the machine gun and rapid fires the germans they hit the target some of the bullets miss but there are eight dead bodies lying on the ground.
“thats a good start to at tank war” I told Ezra
“I agree” I say. I opened up a book of tanks in the book we saw the tank that we had just destroyed the King Tiger. This is a photo of the tank from the map.

My 2014 Midyear Reflection

Reflection for
Something I enjoy is going round teachers to help them or their class with digi problems because it is fun to help and show them how to do it.

I really enjoyed learning how to use new apps on the ipads and on the computer and learn new games for sports pals.  New games for sports pals makes it more fun.

Something I found hard was doing the Waka because my arm got sore when we turning and going back.

Something that made me think was doing rock climbing at Flax Rock because I needed to think where my feet go and not use my arms as much.

Holt Plantarium Visit

HOLT PLANETARIUM VISIT
Monday 16 June 2014

Something I enjoyed was watching how people live in space because it was interesting how they live and the different exercises they do.

Something I found interesting was how hard it looked to eat in space because the food floats around.

The most exciting thing about space is being in zero gravity because you can do back and forward flips endlessly without falling

I would like to learn more about stars and how they can be different colours.

“How do stars in the universe have an impact impact on us?”

I want the rest of my inquiry topic to be about: Stars and heat

Matariki Workshops Kite Making

On Tuesday the 10th we did work shops we also learnt that Matariki means face of god. It is also the Maori new year. This is my Writing about Kite making which is one of the workshops we did.
As I walk into the hall I see Flax and two other things on the ground to one side of the hall. One was Fluffy and the other was brown with some black spots here and there on it. We quickly learnt that the fluffy stuff was Toi Toi and the brown with the black spots was Harakeke. We had to get to into groups of three. I end up with James and Kory we get sent to a table. Louise says “get 4 pieces of Toi Toi which is the fluffy things one person from each group.”
“I’ll go get It” Kory says.

“Ok” me and James reply. Kory comes back with Toi Toi. We tie two pieces of Toi Toi together using the flax string we had made before we got the Toi Toi. We tied at both ends and in the middle. The next step we had to do was put the other pieces of Toi Toi as a triangle and tie it at the top where the ends of the Toi Toi met. Next thing we had to do was get a cross bar which was a stem of a Toi Toi across the other Toi Toi. We have to tie the Toi Toi cross bar to the Toi Toi that are facing down. Me and James hold the top of each Toi Toi when Kory is tieing the bottoms of the Toi Toi. One of the parents helping cut us a crossbar that goes across near the top of the Toi Toi. James and I hold one side when Kory is on the other side tying it together and we swap sides and do it again. Then we had to tie Harakeke with the flax string we had made with flax. At first we tied them separately but then a parent shows us how to do more with one piece of flax string, by criss crossing the flax other and under then back up again. If you did the middle first it was easier then doing the sides first. I ended up doing it. We finished the kite and had a photo with everyone else that had done kite making in the morning. What a great experience for me and everyone!
